  • All appointments are virtual and done by video. You will receive an email with the link to join the video call approximately 30 minutes prior to your appointment. If you prefer for your appointment to be done by phone please let us know.

  • Costs vary depending on the type of appointment you need. Visit our booking site for appointment options and up to date pricing here.

  • At this time we bill patients directly for the cost of their appointment. You will be provided with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Most US insurers cover genetic counselling using CPT code 96040. In Canada private insurance does not usually provide reimbursement.

  • As genetic counsellors we aren’t able to order genetic testing, however we can work with your doctor to ensure you get the genetic testing you need.

  • This depends on what type of genetic counselling appointment you schedule. In general we will start the appointment by getting to know you. It’s important that we know what questions you have and what you hope to gain from the appointment so we can best meet your needs. Together we’ll come up with an idea of how we should spend our time together.

Your genetic counsellor will likely have some information to share with you. This might be about a genetic test you’re thinking of doing, or about a test result that’s already available. We’ll check in with you often to see what questions you have. We often use visual aides, like PowerPoint slides to help explain complex concepts. We’ll share these slides with you when your appointment is over. If you prefer to learn information in a different way, let us know on your intake form.
