Cancellation policies depend on your appointment type. Please read and confirm when booking your appointment.

Genetic Counselling

• Less than 48 hours notice or failure to show up/answer phone within first 15 minutes of the appointment: You will be charged the full cost of the appointment. If you reschedule to another date/time the cancellation fee that you paid will be used to cover the cost of the new appointment, minus a $50 rescheduling fee.

  • Example: Initial appointment is $349. Appointment is rescheduled with 24h notice. You will be charged $349 at that time. On the date of the new appointment you will only be charged $50.

  • Reasoning: Your genetic counselor may spend multiple hours in the 48h leading up to your appointment reviewing your records, researching, drafting your consult note, and preparing to see you. If you reschedule, that time spent preparing is not lost. However, we are usually not able to fill your time slot if you reschedule with less than 48h notice which results in lost income and so we feel that the $50 late rescheduling fee is fair.

• If you are a patient of a clinic who is covering the cost of your appointment, you are still responsible for covering the cost of late cancellation and no show fees. If you expect your clinic to cover the cost of your appointment please confirm this with DNAide at least 48h before.

• If you have indicated that the purpose of your appointment is to review genetic results and you fail to provide these to us at least 48 hours before your appointment, your appointment will be cancelled. You will not be charged

• You must be honest about your physical location at the time of your appointment. If you/we learn that you will not be in a location (country and state/province/territory) that your genetic counselor can serve with less than 48 hours notice you will be charged according to the above cancellation policy and your appointment will be cancelled.

Emotional Support Calls

• Less than 24 hours notice or failure to show up/answer phone within first 15 minutes of the appointment: $50 fee charged

  We recognize that grief can play a role in all areas of your life, including your ability to keep appointments. We feel that our cancellation policy respects your provider's time since they probably won't be able to put someone else on their calendar if you cancel with less than 24h notice, resulting in lost income. However, if the $50 fee is burdensome to you, please reach out to discuss it with us. You can reach out at any time, regardless of how much time has passed.
